Could the Academy Awards follow suit?

The SAG Awards are considered one of the key indicators of the Oscars - for which the nominations will be announced next week.

The last three champions in the SAG best ensemble category - Oppenheimer, Everything Everywhere All At Once, and CODA - all went on to claim the award for best picture at the Oscars.

And all but one of the SAG acting winners from the last three years have also won an Oscar - the exception is Lily Gladstone, who was named best actress at the SAG Awards for her performance in Killers of the Flower Moon, but it's actually Emma Stone who went on to win the Academy Award for Poor Things.

In the TV categories this year, 'Bridgerton', 'The Day Of The Jackal', 'The Diplomat', 'Shogun' and 'Slow Horses' are up for the award for the best ensemble in a drama series.

Alongside the competitive awards, Jane Fonda - who has won two Oscars, two BAFTAs, an Emmy and seven Golden Globes during her career - will be presented with the guild's highest award for life achievement.

The winners of the 13 awards in the film and television categories will be announced at a ceremony that will be broadcast on Netflix and presented by Kristen Bell, who is the star of Nobody Wants This, on 23 February. This follows voting by the 130,000 members of the actors' union SAG-Aftra.
