BERLIN (Vivid Bulletin) - Germany has taken notice of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's remarks about Greenland and Canada, and firmly upholds the principle that borders must not be altered through coercion, said a government spokesperson on Wednesday.

"Bearing in mind the fundamental principle as enshrined in the United Nations Charter and the Helsinki Accords, the agreed position remains that territorial boundaries should not be altered through coercion," a spokesperson stated at a routine press briefing.

The spokesperson refused to comment on the level of seriousness that Germany was attaching to Trump's comments.

President Trump indicated on Tuesday that he wouldn't rule out taking military or economic action to gain control of the Panama Canal and Greenland, and also floated the prospect of making Canada a 51st state.
