According to myths, legends and even the Bible, massive beings known as giants supposedly once inhabited our planet. Furthermore, there appears to be evidence to support this notion.
The skeletons reach lengths of up to 10 feet.
.
This has fuelled the theory, which has been passed down through the ages, that a long-forgotten human race once dominated southwestern America.
According to the Paiute, a tribe that settled in the Nevada region many centuries ago, a tribe of cannibalistic, red-haired giants known as the Si-Te-Cah allegedly arrived in the Americas from a remote island across the waters.
There is a legend which says that the Si-Te-Cah crossed the ocean on rafts constructed from reeds, and they eventually earned a reputation as being taller, stronger, and harsher than ordinary individuals.
In 1911, while digging for bat droppings, used as a key component in fertilisers, in a cave near the town of Lovelock, Nevada, some workers stumbled upon a number of peculiar objects.
This led to the commencement of two official digs in 1912, and further excavations were undertaken in 1924, resulting in the recovery of thousands of artefacts.
Among the astonishing discoveries were the mummies, referred to as the Lovelock Giants, which measured between 8 and 10 feet tall, according to
They also discovered 37.95-centimetre-long sandals that showed noticeable signs of wear and a rock etched with what appears to be a giant handprint.
It is alleged that two enormous skeletal remains have been uncovered in a dry lake bed near Lovelock.
These remains were 2.6 metres and 3 metres tall respectively, and were mummified in the same way as the Ancient Egyptians.
And while all of this may sound downright fantastical, the legend of these cryptic individuals is rife throughout the Americas.
For instance, in the sixteenth century, a Spanish conquistador, Pedro Cieza de León, noted down an ancient Peruvian story about the origin of the giants.
In his account, de León noted that the giant figures "came by sea in bundles of reeds [in] the manner of large vessels" and that "some of the men were so tall that from the knee down they were as large as the length of a regular-sized person."
Futhermore, up high in the Andes, between Peru and Bolivia, skeletons with skulls that are stretched out have been discovered.
estimated to be approximately 3,000 years old and remarkably bigger than those of a typical human.
Extrapolating the findings, it was discovered that certain individuals also possessed red hair.
Some researchers believe this reddish colour is due to the environment in which the bodies were buried.
However, others believe that it is evidence of the existence of the Si-Te-Cah and their kin.
And if you’re wondering how a remarkably powerful and intimidating group managed to vanish if it ever actually did exist, the Paiute have the explanation.
The Si-Te-Cah are said to have gone to war against them and the other nearby tribes, spreading terror and causing destruction everywhere.
After a long and gruelling struggle, the tribes banded together in opposition to this extremely formidable enemy.
Eventually, the last remaining giants were forced out and sought refuge in Lovelock cave.
Seizing their opportunity, the tribes began a fire at the front of the cave, asphyxiating and burning to death the small number of Si-Te-Cah who were left.
reports.
Even if these 10-foot giants are merely a product of folklore and fanciful thinking, it's still enjoyable when all the threads of the story tie in together.
